ATTUNE Methodology

First you. Then your home. Then the two together.

Most design processes begin with the space. ATTUNE begins with the relationship between person and space. The Human Profile™ reads you, the Home Profile™ reads your space, the Alignment Maps™ read the relationship between the two. Design is built on these three layers.

Human Profile™ × Home Profile™ × Alignment Maps™

HUMAN PROFILE™How does this person live, and what do they need?
HOME PROFILE™How does this space behave right now, and what does it allow?
ALIGNMENT MAPS™The layer that turns alignments and misalignments into design decisions.
ATTUNE DESIGN BRIEFThen the design begins.

Not a personality test. The translation of behaviour into architecture.

"I find it very hard to wake up in the morning" is not a note. From which direction does the morning light arrive, does the blackout close completely, does the light rise abruptly on the way to the bathroom, what is the expected morning temperature, what is the dressing route? Behaviour becomes a spatial and environmental requirement.

  1. 01

    Daily rhythm

Waking, retiring, hours spent at home, weekday–weekend difference, which spaces are used at which times of day. This determines decisions on light, climate, circulation and automation.

  2. 02

    Sleep and recovery

Falling asleep, waking in the night, blackout, sound sensitivity, your partner's hours, the morning routine, habits of rest. The core of PRIMARY.

  3. 03

    Movement and wellness

Type and frequency of exercise, mobility, swimming, Pilates/yoga, trainers, sauna, steam, cold, massage and recovery; from where in the home the wellness space should be reached.

  4. 04

    Sensory profile

Sensitivity to light, sound, temperature, air movement, scent, texture and privacy. It shapes the design language and the environmental systems.

  5. 05

    Focus and cognitive environment

Working from home, deep focus, reading, video calls, sensitivity to distraction. Without any medical assessment.

  6. 06

    Social life and privacy

Who you live with, how often and how many guests, family, children, staff, the need for solitude. The living–dining–kitchen relationship and the open/private/service boundaries come from here.

  7. 07

    Indoor–outdoor living

Garden, pool, morning sun, dining outdoors, training, pets, your relationship with nature. It writes the outdoor brief and the design of the thresholds.

  8. 08

    Future life

The next 3, 5, 10 years: children, parents, more or less working from home, more guests, more wellness, changing mobility, more time spent at home, the second home becoming the main one. This is where longevity enters the system.

OUTPUT

"Sensitive to light, values privacy" is not an output.

Not how many square metres. What is this home doing to you today?

In an existing home, the real conditions are surveyed. In a new build, the same system is applied to the site, the orientation and the brief. Measurement is carried out when it improves the decision; not every project is turned into a laboratory.

LUX · K

Light

Orientation, morning sun, afternoon heat, glare, shading, existing artificial light and colour temperature, night conditions.

dB

Sound

External and neighbouring noise, mechanical sound, transmission between rooms, leakage at doors, impact through the floor, vibration from exercise, privacy.

CO₂ · PM · RH

Air

Fresh air, ventilation, extraction, humidity, odour transfer, filtration requirements, stagnant zones.

°C

Heat

Warm/cold zones, solar gain, night-time bedroom temperature, bathroom comfort, draughts, the indoor–outdoor transition.

FLOW

Movement

Circulation, stairs, thresholds, movement routes, inside–outside transitions. Entrance → kitchen; bed → bathroom → dressing; exercise → shower → recovery; pool → changing → home.

kW · L/min

Wellness readiness

Water, drainage, power, ventilation, structural loads, acoustics and vibration; feasibility for sauna, steam and cold.

+10 YEARS

Future fit

The residence's capacity to change later: structure, relationship between floors, lift provision, room conversion, simplicity of technology.

Wellness is today. Longevity is time.

Neuroarchitecture helps us understand how the home is experienced. Wellness defines how the home should support the quality of daily life. Longevity makes us consider how the home will adapt to a life that changes over time. HUMAN(t) × ENVIRONMENT × TIME. Not a health claim; design that supports your quality of life today while preparing your home for the life that changes.

01

Sleep & Recover

Light, blackout, acoustics, mechanical noise, thermal comfort, air, bed position, partner routines, the night route. The outcome we sell: a better night, a better morning.

02

Move

Strength, mobility, Pilates, yoga, swimming, walking, stairs, moving through the garden. The critical question: does this home make an active life easier, or does it create friction?

03

Recover & Regulate

Heat, cold, shower, recovery, rest, silence, nature, water. Not a collection of devices but a sequence: MOVE → HEAT → SHOWER → COLD → RECOVER → REST. Human Profile™ chooses.

04

Breathe & Feel Comfortable

Air, ventilation, humidity, odour transfer, thermal zoning, air movement, mechanical noise, solar gain. Real luxury lies not only in the surfaces you see, but in the comfort you experience without noticing.

05

Reduce Friction

Storage, circulation, ergonomics, intuitive control, night light, bathroom sequence, dressing layout, arrival flow, service circulation, kitchen workflow. The home works with you.

06

Adapt Over Time

Thresholds, circulation widths, bathroom geometry, night navigation, stairs, provision for a future lift where needed, the conversion of rooms. Not a senior home; a luxury residence that thinks about the future.

THE ORDER

First the "wow". Then why it feels this good.

  1. 01Beautiful
  2. 02Personal
  3. 03Exceptional craftsmanship
  4. 04Effortless
  5. 05By wellness
  6. 06Attuned to longevity

Walking in, the client does not say "this is a healthy home". Luxury is never compromised.

WHAT WE DO NOT SAY

We do not say "this home will extend your life".

No cortisol, no risk, no diagnosis. No senior home, no aging design. The only sentence we say:

Built around your life today. Ready for your life to come.

Each on its own is good analysis. Together they become a design engine.

The Human Profile says "wants complete silence at night". The Home Profile says "plant room behind the bedroom, corridor door acoustically weak". On their own, two notes. Together: a high-priority misalignment. The Alignment Map brings the human need and the current condition of the space into the same coordinate system.

ATTUNE does not dictate the solution. It defines the problem precisely.

Every significant misalignment becomes a design requirement. If Human Profile says "prefers warm materials", that does not mean "oak must be used". Data → Requirement → Design interpretation. Never Data → Template. This is why ATTUNE remains bespoke.

HUMAN(t)Goes to bed two hours before their partner.
HOME(t)The dressing room is reached through the bedroom.
PROBLEMThe bedroom is disturbed while a partner gets ready.
ALIGNMENTLow
DESIGN REQUIREMENT The dressing circulation must allow an independent morning routine without disturbing the sleeping partner.
THE ARCHITECT'S SOLUTION SPACE The dressing entrance moves · bathroom + dressing gain a separate vestibule · the door strategy changes · the lighting zones separate. Which one? The design team decides.
DESIGN BRIEF · SAMPLE REQUIREMENTS

"Modern, beige, calm" does not go to an architect. Numbered requirements do.

  1. DR-017The primary sleeping zone must not be disturbed during independent morning routines.
  2. DR-024The movement zone must accommodate two simultaneous users and trainer circulation.
  3. DR-031The private outdoor wellness sequence requires visual privacy from the neighbouring plot.
  4. DR-044The residence must preserve future adaptability between its main living levels.

Not more options. Better choices.

The design says "this bedroom should feel calm, warm, quiet and tactile". Curation translates that into the physical world: which timber, which stone, which fabric, which light. Every choice passes through the Human Profile™, Home Profile™, Alignment Maps™, the technical requirements, maintenance, budget, lead time and the ATTUNE standard. If the right piece exists, we find it. If it does not, ATTUNE Bespoke creates it.

CURATED SELECTION

30 → 12 → 5 → 2–3 for you.

No client is handed photographs of twenty-seven slabs. Option A: the ATTUNE recommendation, and why. B: calmer. C: more expressive. No Good / Better / Best; internally a Target, Stretch and Iconic band; for you, Recommended and, where needed, Alternative.

Internally, every selection is scored on ten criteria: design, human, technical, craftsmanship, durability, maintenance, availability, supplier, value, ATTUNE fit. What reaches you is not a score but a recommendation: ATTUNE Recommends.

Source or Create.

If we can find it, we curate it. If we cannot, it becomes Bespoke: Bespoke Brief, material verification, ATTUNE Craft Standard, shop drawings, samples, a 1:1 mock-up where needed, factory inspection, installation. Approving a render is not approving production.

VALUE ALLOCATION

The right investment in the right place.

The budget is distributed across categories: stone, bespoke fabrication, the master bathroom and lighting are the heroes; service areas and concealed hardware are rational. If a product fails to arrive during construction, its replacement passes the same five filters: aesthetic, technical, human, budget, quality.

Curation does not end when a selection is approved: every item enters the ATTUNE Specification Book with its maker, model, finish, dimensions, quantity, supplier, cost, lead time and sample status; slabs, veneer batches and paint tones are chosen on site, on the real product; at handover, placement and styling are ATTUNE's. Decisions are taken in collective sessions: no "which one?" over WhatsApp.

How the home should behave.

Technology begins in the Human Profile™, not when devices are chosen. The client does not buy KNX, Lutron or Crestron; they buy a home that behaves the way they do. Requirement → Experience → System → Hardware. Never the reverse.

HUMAN(t)Wants to sleep in complete darkness. Partner goes to bed later.
HOME(t)The curtains are manual and leak light. The bathroom is reached through the bedroom.
MISALIGNMENTCritical
DESIGN RESPONSE Blackout pocket and curtain detail. Circulation is reconfigured.
TECHNOLOGY RESPONSE Motorised blackout + SLEEP scene. Independent morning light, low-level bathroom route, zoned curtains.

The same need is resolved on both sides. Technology does not replace architecture; it completes the architectural solution.

  1. ADesired behavioursHow should the home behave, and when?
  2. BIntegrated systemsWhich systems must work together to achieve this?
  3. CUser interfaceAutomatic · keypad · scene · app · voice. In that order.
  4. DAutomation logicWhat will be automatic, and what will stay manual?
  5. EInfrastructureElectrical, network, cabling, panels, sensors, HVAC.

The Technology Brief™ has five parts; the face the client sees is ATTUNE Scenes™. We do not sell a list of systems; the client says SLEEP, the suite sleeps. Says ARRIVE, the home welcomes.

POINT OF CONTACT

ATTUNE

Client experience owner. Human Profile, requirements, scenes, aesthetic integration, supplier coordination, quality, commissioning sign-off.

PARTNER

Technology Designer

System architecture, specification, integration diagrams, equipment strategy. In some projects from within ATTUNE, in others with a specialist partner.

PARTNER

Integrator

Hardware, cabling, panels, programming, installation, technical commissioning. Your point of contact remains ATTUNE.

ATTUNE does not manufacture its own hardware; it selects on performance, reliability, service, local support, aesthetic fit and budget. Even if the client does not take Technology, the home is handed over ATTUNE Technology Ready: three years from now, whenever you want it, nothing has to be broken open.

End to end, three examples.

PRIMARY

HUMAN(t)45 years old, with a partner. Goes to bed at 23:00, the partner at 01:00. Rises at 06:30, the partner at 08:00. Highly sensitive to sound. Natural light in the morning, complete darkness at night. One trip to the bathroom in the night. A great deal of clothing. 35 minutes to get ready.
HOME(t)West-facing bedroom; weak morning light. Bathroom door directly opposite the bed; light falls on the bed. Dressing room reached only through the bedroom. Air vent above the bed. High corridor noise. Insufficient storage.
ALIGNMENT
  • CRITICALnight light · partner routine
  • HIGHacoustics · morning light · dressing capacity
  • MODERATEthermal comfort
BRIEFIndependent partner routines. The night route to the bathroom casts no light on the sleeping side. Measurable acoustic improvement. A morning lighting sequence for weak eastern light. A dressing capacity model. No draught over the sleeping position.

WELLNESS

HUMAN(t)4 strength sessions a week, 2 Pilates. Sauna 3 days, cold 2 days. Trainer twice a week. Training in the morning, recovery in the evening. High privacy. Music.
HOME(t)50 m² basement. Limited daylight. Ceiling at 2.75 m. Ventilation insufficient. Drainage unsuitable for a cold plunge. A bedroom above. Electrical capacity must change for a sauna.
ALIGNMENT
  • CRITICALventilation · impact noise · cold integration
  • MODERATEmovement capacity
  • LOWrecovery
  • ALIGNEDprivacy
BRIEFImpact-isolated movement floor. Dedicated ventilation strategy. Separate hot/cold environmental zones. Service access to the cold plunge. Acoustic separation from the bedroom. Movement → shower → cold → recovery flow.

WHOLE HOME(t)

HUMAN(t)Frequent dinner parties. Working from home. Children. Staff. Heavy pool use.
HOME(t)The kitchen is small. Service circulation runs through the dining room. The guest WC sits in the primary bedroom corridor. The children's rooms are very close to the suite. The office is next to the living room. Everyone coming in from the pool passes through the living room. The staff entrance is the same as the guest entrance.
ALIGNMENT
  • CRITICALservice · privacy
  • HIGHsocial · work · outdoors
  • MODERATEfamily
BRIEFSpatial planning built on the alignment of social life, privacy, service, work, family and the outdoors. Open, private and service circulation are separated. The pool → changing → house route does not pass through the living room.

Seven capabilities. Three products.

A client does not buy seven boxes; they commission PRIMARY, WELLNESS or WHOLE HOME(t). Behind it runs a single machine, in which Curation, Bespoke and Outdoor are core and Technology is optional. We understand you. We design the space. We curate every piece. Where needed, we make it bespoke for you. We carry life outdoors. If you wish, we integrate technology invisibly. And we bring all of it to life.

Not a tool for the beginning. Traceability from the start through to handover.

When the design is complete we return to the Alignment Maps: have the critical misalignments identified at the outset been resolved? At handover, do the light scenes, climate, automation and wellness systems genuinely behave correctly? This is how the risk of "we discussed it in the meeting but it was forgotten in the design" is reduced.

DESIGN TRACEABILITY · INSIDE

"I said it in the first meeting but it got lost" does not happen.

It need not be shown to the client; within the studio, the source of every decision is known. ATTUNE Intelligence does not replace design: human insight → design intent → extraordinary architecture.
